Transportation

Transportation options abound in Volusia County, accommodating people as well as freight via road, rail, sea and air. Discover commercial sites with close proximity to various methods of transportation which fosters economic development in Florida.

Roads:

Located at the crossroads of Central Florida, Volusia County is served by Interstate 4, which runs from the coast 27 miles to the west, and Interstate 95, which traverses the county from north to south for 38 miles. Major improvements are currently underway on these interstate highways and other major arteries.

Rail:

Railroad transportation includes SunRail, a commuter line connecting Volusia County with Orlando and many communities along the route. Amtrack also provides transportation along the eastern seaboard. Freight service is offered by CSX Railway, Norfolk Southern and Florida East Coast Railroad.

Ports:

Volusia County is situated between Jaxport, 90 miles to the north, and Port Canaveral, 75 miles to the south. Additionally, the Port of Tampa is accessible by Interstate 4.

Airports:

Volusia County is fortunate to have one of the most convenient and user-friendly international airports in the nation. Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) offers daily, direct flights to several large hub airports including Atlanta (ATL) on Delta Air Lines and Charlotte (CLT) on American Airlines. American also offers seasonal service to Dallas Fort-Worth (DFW), Philadelphia (PHL) and Washington, D.C. (DCA). Avelo Airlines offers twice-weekly, direct service to New Haven, CT (HVN); in November, the airline will begin direct flights to Hartford, CT (BDL) and Philadelphia/ Wilmington, DE (ILG).  Also, in November Breeze Airways will start service at DAB, with twice-weekly direct flights to Westchester County/New York, NY (HPN). In February 2025, Breeze will twice-weekly direct flights to Hartford, CT, (BDL) Raleigh-Durham, NC (RDU) and Providence, RI (PVD). To top it off, DAB was named Florida’s Commercial Service Airport of the Year by the Florida Department of Transportation in 2024 and 2021.
